Record from any source
Tau records from any source your system recognises — your screen, a built-in webcam, a USB camera, or on macOS, your iPhone via Continuity Camera. You can also record screen and camera simultaneously to show both your display and your face in the same timelapse. Pick your source, set your frame rate, and start recording.
Benefits
-
Screen recording
Record your screen as a timelapse — great for coding sessions, design work, 3D renders, or anything happening on your display.
-
Multi-source recording (screen + camera)
Capture your screen and camera at the same time. Show your work on-display alongside your face — great for tutorials, devlogs, or process videos.
-
Any camera source
Use your built-in webcam, a USB camera, or on macOS, your iPhone as a high-quality camera input through Continuity Camera.
-
Lightweight on resources
Tau is built to run quietly in the background. Recording a timelapse won't slow down the work you're actually trying to capture.
How to use
- 1
Open Tau and start a new recording
Launch Tau and click "New Recording" from the main screen.
- 2
Select your source
Pick from any available source in the dropdown — your screen, webcam, iPhone, USB cam, or enable both screen and camera for multi-source recording.
- 3
Set your frame rate
